“Spare tire fell from vehicle while driving. Since then, I have noted other Chrysler products that have spare tied in place with rope. I therefore think that I am not unique. Event occured at end of driveway. If on highway, could have been very dangerous.”
NHTSA complaint #10116683, filed 2005-04, 125,000 miles“There is a chemical within the tires that causes the rims to corrode, causing the tires to deflate. If the tires are not inflated every couple of days, the vehicle becomes unstable. The valve stem had a leak.”
NHTSA complaint #10050518, filed 2004-01, 30,000 miles“- the contact owns a 1993 Chrysler Town And Country. While driving 10 miles or more and accelerating the vehicle shook. The contact stated it was not related to the steering. The front axle was replaced 3 times, new tires were installed, the wheels were rotated to ensure they weren't bent, and new motor mounts were installed and the failure continued to occur. This failure had occurred for over 2 years. The dealer and the transmission mechanic were unable to diagnose the vehicle. The ABS and brake warning lights illuminated each time the engine was turned on and stayed on for a 1/4 of a mile. …”
NHTSA complaint #10184675, filed 2007-03, 131,000 miles“Letter to follow, basically steering wheel wobbles at 30 MPH, Chrysler says it michelins tires, michelin says its chryslers suspension, either way the van steering wobbles at 30 MPH, shakes strongly when braking from say 70 to 50 MPH almost as if the antilock brakes were on, michelin claims the tires safe even with the wobble, I don't see how that could be on an icy michigan road in the winter.( DOT number: tire size: 215/65r16 )”
