“A month ago my 1998 Chrysler town & country van exploded & burned. I was luckily not hurt but Chrysler refuses to tell me the findings of their inspection report. I really do not understand this. They say I have to get an attorney & sue them to have it released. I cannot afford to do this and I would like to know what happened.”

NHTSA complaint #10141876, filed 2005-11, 120,124 miles

“I own a 1998 Chrysler town & country lx. Corrosion of fuel filler tube caused a fuel leak and the filler tube had to be replaced. Fortunately there was no fire or injury. I was told by my mechanic and the auto salvage firms I contacted that this is a common issue with these minivans.”

NHTSA complaint #10163978, filed 2006-07, 108,000 miles

“1998 Chrysler town & country. Smelled gas inside the car. I looked under the hood and noticed gas dripping from the fuel injector crossover tube. I called the Chrysler dealer and was informed that the problem was repaired in 2009 when I brought the vehicle in for a recall. The problem persisted so I called the dealer again and was told that the location of the gas leak was in the location where the recall was supposed to be fixed. I was asked to bring the vehicle into the dealer. After driving the vehicle to the dealer I was told that I would have to be responsible for a $96.00 checkout fee. …”

NHTSA complaint #10378855, filed 2011-01, 199,000 miles

“Vehicle continues to turn off when slowing down and must restart vehicle while approaching a light or going up a hill. Vehicle taken to repair shop prior and could not find anything wrong with vehicle, repair shop confirmed issues. Have report from shop indicating concern for safety while driving vehicle. Looked for recalls regarding this and nothing reported. Again, vehicle stops running intermitently and must restart vehicle. All power to vehicle stops.”

NHTSA complaint #10652960, filed 2014-11, 300,000 miles

“While driving at 35 MPH, the driver heard a dragging noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The consumer pulled over and noticed that the gas tank was hanging from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. The dealer rebuilt the fuel straps to the tank the next day. The fuel line coupled and had broken. The van stopped as the remaining gas in line spilled onto the street.”
