Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My vehicle will stop after I have finished driving it. This has happened quite frequently. I will have to jump start my battery and then the engine will start. It usually happens when the car has been sitting overnight or for longer periods of time (meaning over 6 hours). I have already replaced the battery and took the car to a mechanic. The mechanic said it a big problem with Chrysler town and county. The fuel pump relay is not working right and causing my battery to drain or not start. …”

NHTSA complaint #11152512, filed 2018-11, 101,000 miles

“My vehicle has stalled out twice. Once just after stopping at an intersection and once when turning in my driveway. On both occasions, the power steering went out and I could not control the direction of the van. Thankfully the brakes did not go out. This is very worrisome to me, especially if it could occur at higher rates of speed. I did take it in to a dealer for this issue, although nothing was done for it. Constantly worried it could happen again.”

NHTSA complaint #10632772, filed 2014-09, 85,000 miles

“My wife was driving our 2009 Chrysler town and county down the road when the vans engine completely turned off as if she shut the ignition down. Thankfully my wife was able to coast into a parking area where after some time she was able to restart the van and proceed on her way. Numerous times I have tried to start the van and the engine would not turn over until the key was taken out and flipped around and then it would start. Two days ago the van would not start at all but all if the key fob functions worked and all of the electrical gauges came on. …”

NHTSA complaint #10549382, filed 2013-10, 59,000 miles

“Vehicle stalls while exiting highway and coming to a stop. Engine rpms dip and car bucks and almost hits car in front. Then engine stalls out. At first after putting it in park and restarting it was ok until going on the highway again. Now the engine doesn't buck it just stalls out when coming to a stop after highway driving and when put in park it starts but when put into drive it stalls right out again. Then starts after being put back in park and I have to apply throttle to get it going in drive. …”

NHTSA complaint #10572678, filed 2014-03, 35,000 miles

“2009 Chrysler Town And Country 4-0 liter engine. A unexplained acceleration of the car. Could not de-accelerate. Had to throw the transmission in neutral. Engine continued to race. Finally came back to normal after going to drive back to neutral back to drive. The tires squaled each time the car was put to drive. The car was taken to sternberg Chrysler center in jasper, in. Car is still there. Awaiting results. They said first time to witness such an event per this model of vehicle.”
