“Purchased my 2008 Dodge Avenger in april 2008 and have had nothing but problem after problem with it first the air bags were recalled then the latches on the doors were recalled. The tire pressure sensor light just never goes off most recently the fuel pump went on the vehicle costing me close to 700 and now the alternator which is going to cost me another 600. What kind of vehicle did Dodge build. This is some bs an all of this is while the vehicle only has about 65000 miles or less n it.”
NHTSA complaint #10407275, filed 2011-06, 55,000 miles“I have taken my 2008 Dodge Avenger to 2 different dealerships on 3 occasions for stalling problems. I have the invoices. They continue to say they cannot verify the complaint. The vehicle stalls while idling and tonight when I pulled out it almost stalled. I researched it online and there are other complaints of the same problem. There are reports of a recall from 2008 for the tire pressure monitoring system as well as the exhaust gas recirculation. I am afraid to drive my vehicle with my girls in the car.”
NHTSA complaint #10318250, filed 2010-03, 32,000 miles“I was traveling in my '08 Dodge Avenger sxt w/my son making a left hand turn around a corner & vehicle just turned off by itself w/o warning. Went head on into oncoming traffic & went up onto a curb. Put vehicle into park & restarted it. The vehicle has to date shut off on us 6 x's. The even when incident happened was we were just driving the car-going home. The vehicle gives no signs, beeps or warnings that it is going to shut off. It just shuts off by itself. It has occurred a total of 6x's so far. …”
NHTSA complaint #10255192, filed 2009-01, 22,837 miles“I have been very very disappointed with my 2008 Avenger.. Seems like I've experienced one problem after the other.. The first was the TPMS, which a recall was made and that was fixed. 2nd I had to replace the whole gear shift because it wouldn't come out of park... I called the dealership and they advised me that they saw a significant increase on those parts and alot of the avengers were experiencing the same thing. 3rd, now the bearings inside the alternator have broke.. And I have to replace the whole alternator itself. …”
NHTSA complaint #10335580, filed 2010-06, 60,000 miles“I purchased a 2008 Dodge Avenger last april, brand new. I have taken care of the vehicle, the lighting on the dash is always coming on, so I am constantly taking it to the shop and they run the diagnostics and they tell me nothing is ever wrong. I had to take the it in for a warranty problem on top of all of that. Then this last time I thought it was making a funny noise with the brakes. I took it in and they said I have a leak in my transmission and oil tank, of course the only thing on the dash lighting this time says tire problem . …”
