“I just took my 2008 Dodge Caliber to get inspected and it will not pass due to a rusted out subframe. I was told it is extremely expensive to get repaired and is very time consuming. This is a big safety hazard and I was told not to drive it much longer. Is there any way this is covered under recalls as the 2007 is. If not, is there some sort of warranty that takes care of this?”
NHTSA complaint #10902061, filed 2016-08, 96,000 miles“Rusted sub-frame , paper thin many complaints listed all over the web, driving in a lot hit a speed bump front right tire came almost all the way off the car. Called chrysler they dont care if my car could have killed me and my child, they have no recall so its my issue not theirs.”
NHTSA complaint #11093394, filed 2018-05, 119,000 miles“I was turning in my vehicle for a trade in and during the appraisal test drive the axel broke and it had to be towed. The gentlemen stated that is was due to rust build up. Over the years, I have complain about the power steering feeling off, the car not driving right, etc and it has been in three places where the maintenance folks said nothing was wrong. According to the bulletin, these same issues should have been caught somewhere to prevent this from happening. …”
NHTSA complaint #11286581, filed 2019-12, 124,000 miles“My vehicle won't stay aligned. And now it has a bad jerk in it. You can be going 10 MPH or 50 MPH and it still jerks you to the left. You can feel it in the steering wheel. We have put new tires on it so many times. We have bought tierods for it and nothing seems to be helping it.”
NHTSA complaint #10651849, filed 2014-11, 118,000 miles“Rotten subframe - my control arm separated from the frame and my tire/wheel went sideways causing me to screech to a stop, luckily I was coming to a stop anyway but it easily could have happened at a high speed and killed myself and others”
