“I purchased this vehicle knowing of rust but when I climbed under it I seen the subframe is almost rusted all the way through this is a major issue I've heard of a few other Caliber owners who's whole drivetrain fell out of engine bay due to this, this could be a dangerous problem if someone is driving at highway speeds Dodge needs to take action and recall this part and put a better component on the vehicles they produce”
NHTSA complaint #11222009, filed 2019-06, 140,000 miles“I have a 2008 Dodge Caliber garage kept 49000 miles with a rusted busted frame. Didn't realize until knocking in front end. Always done repairs and recalls and this is dangerous. Called to request chrysler to be accountable and they basically told me its my problem. Where do you go from here in liability.”
NHTSA complaint #10883319, filed 2016-07, 49,000 miles“I was making a turn and the passenger side tie rod broke. This is the third time I have had to replace a tie rod. Thank god my kids were not in the car or I wasn't on the highway. When is some gonna do something about this. People have had more than one bad experience with this. Dodge needs to step up and fix these cars!! This will b the last Dodge I ever buy.”
NHTSA complaint #10505282, filed 2013-04, 140,000 miles“I was turning in my vehicle for a trade in and during the appraisal test drive the axel broke and it had to be towed. The gentlemen stated that is was due to rust build up. Over the years, I have complain about the power steering feeling off, the car not driving right, etc and it has been in three places where the maintenance folks said nothing was wrong. According to the bulletin, these same issues should have been caught somewhere to prevent this from happening. …”
NHTSA complaint #11286581, filed 2019-12, 124,000 miles“My vehicle won't stay aligned. And now it has a bad jerk in it. You can be going 10 MPH or 50 MPH and it still jerks you to the left. You can feel it in the steering wheel. We have put new tires on it so many times. We have bought tierods for it and nothing seems to be helping it.”
