“The air bag light keeps coming on and then goes out. I believes it the same problem covered for previous year models included in the clock spring NHTSA recall 04v480000. I believe the recall should be extended to all year models since it's the same problem. It happens at various driving speeds.”
NHTSA complaint #10453260, filed 2012-03, 171,080 miles“We own a 2001 Dodge Caravan. The air bag warning light alerted us to a problem. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a failure of the clockspring. A recall was recently issued for clockspring failures on the 1999 and 2000 caravans. The dealer, for a cost of $255.48, replaced the part. Apparently the problem was not resolved on the 2001 models. I believe the potential problem exists and should be addressed.”
NHTSA complaint #10095906, filed 2004-10, 52,000 miles“Dt: contact complained about the recall of earlier models of the same car where the clock spring in the steering column was bad. The steering was not affected .this caused the horn and cruise control to malfunction. The air bag light came on intermittently. Contact called Dodge and told them.he had this problem for the past week.”
NHTSA complaint #10129479, filed 2005-07, 87,000 miles“- the contact owns a 2001 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that there was a safety recall. However, this vehicle did not qualify under the safety recall due to the VIN. The safety recall was on the clock spring. The contact stated that the clock spring is exactly what has failed in this vehicle. The airbag indicator light came on several times while driving. Neither speed nor weather were factors in the clock spring failure.”
NHTSA complaint #10180814, filed 2007-01, 93,600 miles“Dt: the contact stated the srs warning light came on. The dealership said there was corrosion on the airbag connector and on an open circuit in the connector line. They cleaned off the corrosion both times. The airbag would need to be replaced if the problem occurred again.”
