“Airbag warning light lit. Looked up on NHTSA website, chrysler issued a safety improvement campaign copy enclosed. I took my van to the dealer to have it fixed plus a new key and a recall notice for a fuel/stalling problem. I was informed that the airbag problem was not covered because of the VIN number. The van was purchased in mass. And I purchased it in rhode island. I donot think I should have to pay 216.61 dollars to have this fixed. Thank you”

NHTSA complaint #10860410, filed 2016-04, 150,000 miles

“Our 2005 Dodge Caravan was involved in a crash. The front left side of the van hit a steel light pole mounted in concrete. The driver's side air bags deployed, but the passenger side did not. My daughter was sitting in the passenger seat and suffered a head injury/concussion.”

NHTSA complaint #10274045, filed 2009-06, 86,000 miles

“Frontal sensor/air bag my air bag warning light in my vehicle has be illuminating for almost 2 years now. I looked into a recall at the time my dealer service center advised me of the meaning of the warning light. At that time I seen a recall for the air bag sensor and my vehicle was not part of the recall. Now here almost 2 years later another recall is posted for the same sensor and my vehicle is still not part of the recall. The sensors still have not been replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10314084, filed 2010-02, 85,000 miles

“On our 2005 Dodge Caravan the air bag light came on. When we brought it in to the Dodge dealer we were told that the right hand front impact sensor was bad. They said the wires were corroded and the sensor was bad. It was not covered under warranty and would cost $250.00 to replace. After looking at the Dodge recalls they did recall this problem for the 2005 Dodge Caravan but not ours. The problem with the sensor on our van is the same as what the recall said.”

NHTSA complaint #10256147, filed 2009-01, 35,000 miles

“My wife was driving from work while getting on to the freeway the check engine light came on. Two minutes later the airbag light came on also. Took to dealership next day and was told that both front impact sensors and connectors needed to be replaced. Vehicle is a 2005 with 43000 miles which is out of warranty so we will have to pay for repair. Parts were ordered but are on national backorder so they have no idea when they will come in.”
