“Dodge/chrysler floor shifter recall [k39] Dodge knows they have a huge problem with the floor shifter, but is only covering a 3 month [6/25/07-9/21/07] manufacturing span. Dodge needs to cover the whole year[2007]. Our car was parked in our driveway when the spring broke and we could no longer get it out of park.”

NHTSA complaint #11240498, filed 2019-07, 110,000 miles

“Notification code k39 the transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring hook broke. The broken interlock return spring hook was the result of the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the park position. I called the Dodge dealership and they would not repair it as per notification code k39 recall. I have my repair receipts from midas auto service experts.”

NHTSA complaint #10661994, filed 2014-12, 56,129 miles

“My vehicle begins to stall out at low speeds or while idling. While slowing down for a light or just waiting for the traffic light to change. I brought the vehicle to the chrysler dealership at gwinnette chrysler stone mountain georgia and the problem was diagnosed to be the fuel tank needing replacement after paying 3000.00 dollars for repairs that did not resolve the issue. I was then given a final diagnosis that the fuel tank was the issue and it was going to cost 4500.00 to replace. …”

NHTSA complaint #11406398, filed 2021-04, 140,000 miles

“My 2007 Dodge Charger suddenly would not shift out of park today 7/12/2013. After researching online I discovered there is a recall for this issue however my VIN is not covered. This is a known issue and is well documented online, however chrysler refuses to expand the recall to all chargers affected by their faulty shift column.”

NHTSA complaint #10524626, filed 2013-07, 155,000 miles

“Interlock brake lever broke. This is the piece that locks your car in park and you have to press brake pedal to release lock before shifting. Car wont come out of park position. I have seen several complaints of this online for Dodge and they are only willing to fix certain VIN numbers. I would like mine to be considered being as it only had 30k miles when this happened.”
