“My front brakes keep sticking. This is the third time it's happened. I've replaced the pads, calipers, discs and lines twice now. I just finished that repair about 5000 miles ago because of the same problem. Last week, smoke pours out of my front right wheel well, and the truck is pulling and vibrating.....same issue. Why does my truck keep doing this?”

NHTSA complaint #10595978, filed 2014-06, 95,000 miles

“I own a 2000 Dodge Dakota, and have noticed a popping noise on the dirvers side front end. I have since determined that it is in fact the upper ball joint that is badly worn, and has an extreme amount of play in it. I understand that this is becomming a growing problem and wanted to add to it in hopes of getting it replaced before my front wheel falls off.”

NHTSA complaint #10065674, filed 2004-04, 20,000 miles

“I currently have a heavy surging sensation while braking. I was told my rotors were warped. My Dodge Dakota 4x2 quad cab has 40000 miles. I feel that I should be able to rely on my vehicle to stop without shaking me or my family like a rag doll. The heavy shaking may lead to my ability to control my truck while stopping, which constitutes a serious safey issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10030613, filed 2003-08, 36,000 miles

“Brake rotor warping again & again & again. I only have 48000 miles on my truck and I am on my third set of rotors and still the same pads which have about 3/8 of an inch left. The dealer tells me it is how I drive, I disagree with that. I will never buy another Dodge unless they find a solution to this problem. I don't know if this will help anything but oh well.”

NHTSA complaint #10013737, filed 2003-03, 15,000 miles

“I have needed to have the rotors on my 2000 Dodge Dakota quad cab for the second time now and it only has 39k miles on it! The truck vibrate uncontrollably from highway to anything above 30mph when you try and stop. This problem has been persistant since about 12000 miles on the odometer. Ill Dodge ever stand behind this or make a good replacement part or do we all have to get into an accident??”
