Example complaints
Brakes: “Vehicle towed because it had failure of brake lines...(rusted in half). This should have never occurred in a closed system. No water was able to get into the system. If the brake lines rusted in half as is what occurred enabling loss of brake fluid...this would result in failure of the vehicles braking system. This type of failure would put all of the public at risk as failure could occur at any time. Fortunately, my vehicle was being towed to a Dodge dealer for replacement of the brake lines as they rusted in half in a very short time frame.”
NHTSA complaint #764516, filed 2002-07Fuel system: “The fuel filter clogs but there is a short bypass hose to the middle level of the tank, when the filter clogs the system receives unfiltered through the bypass hose, when the level goes below 1/2 tank. The pump sucks air and the system shuts down for lack of fuel. This is a design flaw and not a critical safety problem but it does affect safety to an extent. I.e. You think you have a half tank of gas. But it may stop at any time without warning. O in heavy traffic lor on the rail road tracks.”
NHTSA complaint #751267, filed 2001-08Seat belts: “Consumer was seated in the middle of a bench seat during a head on collision and was badly injured by the rear view mirror mounted to the top of the interior, there was no upper body restraint and no air bag to protect her from the rear view mirror, consumer believes the rear view mirror needs to be changed, or there should be more restraint provided for the passengers taht are seated in the middle. Nlm”
