Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The fuel filter clogs but there is a short bypass hose to the middle level of the tank, when the filter clogs the system receives unfiltered through the bypass hose, when the level goes below 1/2 tank. The pump sucks air and the system shuts down for lack of fuel. This is a design flaw and not a critical safety problem but it does affect safety to an extent. I.e. You think you have a half tank of gas. But it may stop at any time without warning. O in heavy traffic lor on the rail road tracks.”

NHTSA complaint #751267, filed 2001-08

“Gas gauge is failing to operate. The fuel gauge started not functioning properly at about 42000 miles. Also the lighted low fuel indicator comes on all time.”

NHTSA complaint #882178, filed 2001-03

“Left front tie rod is attached to a steering control rod with sleeve, adjusting sleeve disconnected which caused vehicle to loose control and go off road.”

NHTSA complaint #542270, filed 1998-10
