While driving approximately 40 MPH, the odor of burning rubber was noticed and smoke emerged from the rear passenger tire. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the rear passenger side wheel bearing failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired by the same mechanic for the same failure three months earlier. The dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was repaired for the most recent failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.”
