“2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with one passenger (driver) was hit by a driver running a red light at ~ 50mph. The collision occured at the front right (passenger) side of the Grand Caravan. The collision was severe and the van was totaled out as a result of this accident. Although the accident was a side impact none of the side airbags deployed, only the front air bags deployed. The driver of the van suffered head injuries due to contact with the side window of the van during the crash.”

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection who stated the front wheel bearings were worn prematurely. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer advised the contact that the VIN was not included in the wheel bearing extended warranty repair. The failure and current mileage was 52,976.”

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the vehicle needed an alignment. Additionally, the motor mount and the lower intake gasket was fractured, causing an oil filter housing leak in the lower intake gasket. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.”

The contact stated that after receiving repairs under a voluntary recall on the front wheel bearings, she was notified by the dealer that the failure was on the rear of the vehicle and not in the front. As a result, the rear wheel bearing, brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 37,000.”

The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, it was noticed that the rear axle prematurely cracked on both sides in the rear. The vehicle was not yet inspected and diagnosed by a dealer and an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they would provide a solution. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. ...updated 10/23/17 the consumer stated the dealer advised the vehicle was not covered under warranty due to it having over 100,000 miles.
