Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Active restraint system fails to operate below 30 degrees (f). Chrysler part #mb791139. The shoulder belt mechanism locks and fails to release when below the above temperature. Because the component is beneath the center arm rest, it does not sufficiently warm until after an hour of vehicle use. The result is the shoulder belt cannot be used during the first hour of driving as it will not extend to its' intended position. This issue is consistent and occurs every day when the ambient temperature is below 30 degrees(f).”

NHTSA complaint #10205944, filed 2007-10, 92,000 miles

“Front passenger door popped open upon impact; driver/passenger motorized shoulder belts did not hold occupants; passenger's head went thru windshield; totalled.”

NHTSA complaint #958730, filed 1995-01
