“The car accelerates without warning when in gear, but stopped as in backing out of a parking space or sitting at a red light. It appears to be associated with running the air conditioner. It is very scary and I have had many close calls in hitting the car in front of me or even a pedestrian walking behind my vehicle in a parking lot.”
NHTSA complaint #10521208, filed 2013-06, 85,000 miles“You can be driving 15 MPH to 70mph and the vehicle will stall it's still running but won't go you can turn the key off and restart the vehicle and it goes. But it may go 2 feet or 20 miles I'm a auto tech I cleaned the throttle body like Ford said and Ford reprogrammed the PCM and that did not help. The vehicle still stalls going down the road and you have to pull over and kill it and restart the vehicle. Ford just put a lot of bad parts on these five hundreds mainly the throttle body.”
NHTSA complaint #10499812, filed 2013-02, 148,000 miles“Hi. The recall Ford had on the throttle body issues back in 2013 when I got mine fixed. Now 40 thousands miles later the car almost lunge into traffic at a red light 2 times. Well the car is having the same problem as before I got the throttle body fixed. I called Ford in cabot and they wanted over 200.00 hundred dollars to run a diagnostic and to clean the throttle. I thought this was a fixed issue and it is not. Ford in cabot told me it will have to be clean or the unit has to be replaced and that is around 500 dollars. What a scam they are pulling. This needs to be dealt with asap. …”
NHTSA complaint #11097155, filed 2018-05, 149,897 miles“Car died in middle of intersection. Then repeatedly, until able to get to side of road. Was told by Ford hydraulic code meant transmission failed. Was told warranty just past date and VIN number not on any recall list. Service was always done by the schimmer Ford dealer in peru il. In 2012 a throttle body arm recall due to surging did not include my VIN number even though my car had same problem. And I reported that to dealer we could have been killed in that intersection. Ford will do nothing to repair my car but told me to hang onto my paperwork in case . Of a future recall. …”
NHTSA complaint #10678735, filed 2015-01, 66,958 miles“On several occasions the vehicle would not go or extremely late response then lunge forward when commanded by pressing the accelerator. Often times when you are turning in front of other traffic. I have had several near misses with being stuck in an intersection or a very delayed throttle response lunging me into on coming traffic. The car goes into limp mode or the transmission seems to act up after this happens. I get a check engine light and a wrench light on the dash. Also the car has had uncommanded engine speeds at a stop sign or redlight. …”
