Example complaints

Steering: “We developed a leak in the steering system which appeared to be from the steering box. The mechanic who attempted to repair the leak changed the hoses and said it was fixed. Two days later the steering was still leaking. I took it back to the mechanic who then said that the system was burping due to air in the line or that the leak was coming from the steering box seals, which he could replace. We researched this problem and found an article in car & driver apr '97 regarding steering failures in our vehicle so we are contacting you to see if the steering box has been determined to be faulty. …”

NHTSA complaint #760841, filed 2002-04

Tires: “Tire on drivers side developed bulge on 11 sept 99. Tire on passenger side developed bulge on 18 sept 99. Both bulges occured at 70 MPH in a 75 MPH zone. Tires purchased on 15 oct 1998 at approx 79,204 miles. I am contacting the local distributor for adjustment. Should I save the carcasses for examination? Email us to let us know. Thanks.( DOT number: vdhkw1a056 tire size: lt23575r15 )”
