“Drivers seat leans back, possible broken floor bolt like mentioned in NHTSA action number : pe98041 on a 1993 Ford crown vic, also knew of the same problem with a 1992 crown vic which I no longer own. Did they change the seat between 1993 and 1198 models? If they did not then the recall should certainly include older model crown vics.”
NHTSA complaint #10226581, filed 2008-05, 160,000 miles“I bought a used 1993 Ford crown vic approximately 4 years ago, while I expected I would have to put money into repairs the one thing I didn't expect would be having to repair a seat mounting bracket due to poor workmanship & or materials. After looking on the internet at various sites I found that I'm not the only one this has happened to, many people have had the same problem with the seat frame shearing away from the bolts in crown vics.I tried contacting both the local Ford dealership & the corporate consumer affairs dept with no satisfactory resolution to this matter. …”
NHTSA complaint #10534531, filed 2013-08“I have had two Ford crown vics, a 1992 and now a 1993. In both vehicles the driver's side seat frame, on the front left corner, sheared. This left the bolt still anchored to the slider for the seat adjuster. The seats rock back and forth. Not only is this a safety issue, but it make the seat extremely uncomfortable. I don't have exact dates as to when this happened. The date on the form is wrong and only shows because it was a required field.”
NHTSA complaint #10018601, filed 2003-05“Bolt holding down spare tire in trunk sheared off during crash, causing spare tire to be thrown against rear seat back. Lack of reinforcement caused rear seat back to bow forward several inches, killing three children. All three children were wearing seat belts and died of internal injuries caused by force of the seat back squeezing against fixed seat belts.”
NHTSA complaint #539844, filed 1998-08“Braking system malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance which may result in a crash. Dealer replaced brake calipers and front disc rotors 3 times. Also, wiring harness in the steering column burned out(ignition), causing a fire. In addition, bolt that holds driver's seat to the floor came out which could cause the driver's seat to move unexpectedly. Please provide further information.”
