“Every morning when I go to leave in my 2022 Ford Explorer when it's cold or not. I go to start the vehicle and it automatically says that their is a malfunction in the brake system that it requires service right away. That advance track and a whole bunch of safety systems had failed. The instrument cluster is lit up like a Christmas tree. Then when you do put the Explorer into reverse, your foot almost hits the floor board and automatically starts rolling backward until you slam on the brake hoping it will stop. …”

“While merging on to the freeway, while trying to achieve freeway speed, the Explorer lost all power for about 10 seconds. During that time, multiple error messages appeared on my dashboard. The messages included Pre-Collision Assist Not Available and See Manual . Several Error message were sent to my FordPass app. The messages include: 1. Service Engine Soon Warning - The powertrain control system speed sensors have detected the transmission did not achieve the gear expected and may be slipping internally... 2. …”

“I was in a middle school parking lot attempting to park my vehicle. My foot was not on the accelerator, and my foot was light depressed on the brake pedal as I was attempting to park the car prior to school release. The vehicle suddenly accelerated at a high rate, with no indicators on the dashboard that there was a mechanical/electrical issue. I had to swerve to avoid colliding with a parked vehicle and abruptly applied the brake pedal, which depressed into the floor board. This incident would have injured a child or parent at school release had I not arrived prior to end of day release. …”

“When using my Cruise Control the speed jumps up to 75-85 mph without my input. For example, when I set the cruise control to 55 it suddenly jumps up to 75 or 85 mph on its own. This happens when the speed signs on the road change. This past week I used my cruise control for a long trip. I was on a highway that changed the posted speed from 55 to 65 mph. The cruise control suddenly went from the posted speed of 55 mph to 85 mph. This is very concerning! It has happened several times and I can no longer use the cruise controller. I have approximately 5,000 miles on my vehicle .”

NHTSA complaint #11513903, filed 2023-03

“Car has recall for rear end bolt that breaks, took car in to have repair made. Came home with a software update that sets the park brake when you put car in park, and then when start the car and put into gear you press the accelerator or press the button, the car will lunge forward or reverse when you press accelerator, not safe at all! From what I have read the NHSTA approved this (fix) instead of fixing the sub frame and more bolts like it should be, instead of a auto parking brake that sets every time. I do feel this is a extreme safety issue and should be addressed immediately! …”
