“The contact owns a 2022 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, the hood suddenly opened and struck the windshield, causing the windshield to crack. The contact stated that the month prior to the failure, the hood had been opened for a routine oil change. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle was taken to a body shop. The local dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. …”

The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 50 MPH, the hood came ajar and shattered the front windshield. The driver heard two abnormal beeps before the failure. There was glass on the interior of the vehicle. There were no reported injuries. The driver was able to continue driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact noticed that the safety latch was missing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed the contact that the latch had to be pulled twice to unlock. …”
