“We were returning home and pulling our rv when the right rear tire shed all the surface cover but did not lose it's air and almost caused us to crash. The tire is a uniroyal lt 265-75-r16 made by michlin. I now have 2500.00 in truck damages and no recourse.”
NHTSA complaint #10325701, filed 2010-04, 29,000 miles“Tire separation, I was driving down the freeway at approx 70 MPH when the right rear tread separated from my tire causing extensive damage to my f250 2003 Ford pick up truck. My truck surged to the right and I corrected back to my lane. There were no injuries to the passengers of my truck or any other vehicles. This is the second time this has happened in 2 years. These are the original tires with only 38,000 miles on them. The tires are general ameritrac lt 235/85/r16.”

The tire is a dick cepek fun country 2 purchased in july 2007. At the time of the accident, the tire had 60,000 miles on it and was properly inflated, there was adequate tread on it. My 15 1/2 year old son, who has his permit, was driving at the time in heavy traffic, but was able to control the vehicle enough to avoid an accident and remove the truck from the roadway; we were traveling at 50 MPH at the time. …”
