“On monday may 12 I was involved in a car accident. I am concerned because my air bad did not activate. I was driving a 2001 Ford f250, going around 40-45 miles per hour. I ran into the back of a person that was sitting stopped at a red light. I never hit my brakes so I hit her straight in the rear. Why type of impact does it take for the sensor to go off for air bags?”
NHTSA complaint #10018731, filed 2003-05, 47,000 miles“Dt: ABS brakes, air bags, and fuel system failed. At 4700 miles they replaced the entire brake system. Had it a mechanic shop and discovered it was the ABS. While going 55 MPH and making a left hand turn kept pushing the brakes and nothing happened causing a wreck. Kept taking vehicle to Ford, they could not find anything wrong. Upon impact, air bags also did not deploy. Also, fuel lines shut off. This happened on march 15, 2002.”
NHTSA complaint #10130864, filed 2005-08, 45,000 miles“Was T-Boned in the passenger side of the truck which changed my direction of travel resulting in hitting a tree head on. Neither frontal air bags deployed. The frontal impact was hard enough to push the tree 18 to 20 inches into the engine compartment bending the frame where the front bumper was attached. The accident resulted in a fatality. I'm just confused why neither air bag deployed. I have had this truck since it was new so I know it's history. There was not any warnings lights on, No air bag warning lights, No modifications were ever done to the truck. All stock. …”
NHTSA complaint #11448721, filed 2022-01“The contact stated while driving 45 MPH a vehicle pulled out in front of the contact causing a crash. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and the other driver was injured.”
