“Both low beam headlights stopped working at the same time. High beams still work. I looked it up on the web and fiestas in canada have been recalled for this problem, but for some reason not in the us. Car was moving when this happened. I turned on the lights and the low beam headlights and they were out.”
NHTSA complaint #11350066, filed 2020-08, 120,000 miles“The low beams have stopped working. I now cannot drive after dark and if I have an emergency with one of my three kids I will not be able to take them anywhere. High beam and parking lights work. Replaced headlight bulbs and still won't work. There was a recall in canada but not the USA. It's been months and can not afford to have the fuse box replaced. Radio has also stopped working for the past 3 weeks”
NHTSA complaint #11291897, filed 2019-12, 141,000 miles“Driving on a two way road, the low beam head lights went out. I could not see. I was lucky that the high beams worked. The problem was when another car was coming towards me and I have switch to the low beams. I reached my destination but the problem persist.”
NHTSA complaint #11277753, filed 2019-11, 45,000 miles“I have performed routine maintenance on my car for years. The other day the headlights stopped working suddenly and without warning. The issue ended up being in the fuse box under the hood, which is allowing salt and sand to enter the fuse box without any filtration system of any sort. The low beam relay had completely corroded because of particles getting into the fuse box. We are lucky it is just the lights so far, but unfortunately one of the prongs for the relay was so corroded that it broke off inside the plug. …”
NHTSA complaint #11132779, filed 2018-10, 114,000 miles“The exact time of the incident is unknown. I had not driven my car at night for at least two weeks before I tried to turn on my low beam head lights when I was parked in a friend's driveway at night. My car's low-beam headlights did not turn on. Upon further inspection it was discovered that the light bulbs were undamaged, but the relay had become corroded. When the relay was removed the corroded prong broke off (or otherwise remained) in the fuse box. Now there is no way to replace the relay, because of the prong in the fuse box. My low beams do not work. …”
