“Snow is entering through the cowl top are and melting, the water enters the blower motor and then freezes the blower motor. This makes it so my car has no heat or functional defroster. When I brought the car back to the dealership I purchased it from they stated it was a design flaw and common problem. The suggestion they gave me was to keep snow and ice away from the cowl top which is unrealistic for where I live. …”
NHTSA complaint #10682396, filed 2015-02, 8,718 miles“On 12/31/2015 while traveling in the fast lane on a busy crowded highway in the pouring rain with my windshield wipers on high, all of a sudden poof they stopped working. They would not come back on. I took it to the dealer (mizzell Ford-waynesboro, ga) on 1/04/2016 to have it repaired. One of the wires had come loose or disconnected from the harness that controls the wipers. They repaired the wire and relocated the harness. My concern is this being an extreme safety issue. …”
NHTSA complaint #10821360, filed 2016-01, 25,000 miles“I was driving on the highway in the early evening, approx 55 degrees, fair weather, A/C and heat off, smooth roadway. Suddenly the sunroof glass exploded with a very loud gunshot-like noise. There was a large hole in the sunroof with some glass chunks in the interior. Most of the glass appeared to leave the vehicle as if it exploded outward. The sunroof shade was open at the time but the sunroof itself was closed. I pulled over and looked inside the car for rocks or other objects but found none. I took photos.”
NHTSA complaint #10651724, filed 2014-10, 11,000 miles“Heater blower stopped working in extreme cold conditions. Very dangerous because of icing of the interior of the windshield as well as a lack of warmth. Ford actually has a TSB 13-11-17 on the problem, which should be made into a recall. I repeat this issue can very well be life and safety issue threatening in extreme cold.”
NHTSA complaint #10559012, filed 2014-01, 4,000 miles“Moisture can enter the HVAC system and freeze during cold temp causing the blower motor to freeze, leaving it inoperable. The vehicle was parked overnight on a cold night. Windows will not defrost during cold temps resulting in a safety issue.”
