“Rear driver's side door swung open when I was mid-left turn on a city street. I immediately pulled over and attempted to close door. Latch does not seem to be working, door would not close/stay closed. Door had to be tied and bungee-corded shut inside the car (through backseat). Warning alert continues going off, letting me know rear door is still open.”
NHTSA complaint #10882562, filed 2016-07, 38,000 miles“Rear door flew open while driving. Faulty door latch. My VIN was not one of the 500,000 recalled but it still failed. I had to pay dealer out of pocket to fix. Known safety issue. I should not have to pay for something known to fail in a vehicle known to have the issue. Could have been serious if pet or cargo were in back.”
NHTSA complaint #11031770, filed 2017-10, 44,000 miles“Front pass.door latch that keeps door closed broke while it was stationary.there is a recall on this model except month mine was built.mine was built in 6/2013 and recall effects model thru 05/2013.my concern is I've read these doors can come open while in motion.I have kids in my car all the time”
NHTSA complaint #10945747, filed 2017-01, 47,000 miles“My recall states that Ford has not issued instructions to stop driving your vehicle under this safety. My back door latch opened while driving which makes the car undrivable and needing a tow, possibly causing an accident. I had a ptsd response to the incident and had to go to the doctor because of the stress induced on my body. I also required medical massages. My front door hinge also was about to break the service dept informed me as well which is not on this recall. Other owners may not be so lucky.”
NHTSA complaint #11365680, filed 2020-10, 50,000 miles“Back passanger door opened while driving and will not latch closed. Called Ford and even though there is a recall on this matter with my make model and year, my car is not included and they want over 500.00 to fix. On top of this my car tries to stall everytime I go to excelerate from a stop and also when it goes from 1st to 2nd gears. I was told when purchased that it was me not hitting the gas hard enough, however I do not find this is the case”
