“I have a 2018 Ford FLEX with 900 miles on it . I took my first road trip in 8-4-2018 and while accelerating hard to get onto the interstate I noticed exhaust fumes were coming into the cabin at an alarming rate , I had to slow down and roll the windows down it got so bad,my eyes were burning ,felt sick and my chest felt funny. I tried it several more time with the same results. It seems like it happens worse when I have max air on. Normal city driving I don't notice it. I can't tell if it is coming thru the vents or the seal on the back door.”
NHTSA complaint #11115748, filed 2018-08, 900 miles“Steering assist failure. Bought the car new in nov. 2018 it had about 60miles on it and was the last FLEX on the lot. Ever since I got it occasionally when I go to start it it says steering assist failure and will not start but after a few tries will start up fine. I tried taking it to the dealer a few months ago and they said they could not replicate the issue and could not find anything wrong. Yesterday it did the same thing leaving the house but started up and I left to the store. When leaving the store to head home the car it would not start and gave me every fail code possible . …”
NHTSA complaint #11220255, filed 2019-06, 1,226 miles“The backup camera on my Flex has stopped working. It displays a scrambled image or nothing at all and an error message saying the ‘camera is not available’. This is dangerous, as I could back up and injure someone. I see Ford has a recall underway for millions of vehicles with this problem and the fix is a software update. I suggest NHTSA look into including the Flex in the recall, because this appears to be the same problem.”
NHTSA complaint #11682030, filed 2025-08“APIM is failing due to current recall with reverse camera. The glitching has cause many safety issues including •Navigation Fault •Cracking/popping audio •Missing touchscreen sounds •Intermittent system issues •Slow loading •Camera freezing or blacking out This has already caused a collision with my vehicle. Took it to manufacturer (Ford dealership) and they told me nothing they can do until recall has parts ready. Prior to all this, my car system was working just fine up until August 2025. No issues AT ALL.”
NHTSA complaint #11703349, filed 2025-12“Recently, while driving on the freeway The drivers B pillar, came off and was only held on by the wires for the keyless entry. While driving on the freeway, I had to hold the B pillar until I could get off the freeway. When I called Ford, they told me to bring it in to get it looked at to proceed with the repair, but was then informed there is no parts at this time and had no time line when they would receive them. which is completely unacceptable since my B pillar is no longer attached. Also, my backup camera does not work. …”
