“My trunk continues to open when the release button is not being employed. This morning, on my way to work, it happened about 8 times. I had to bungee the trunk latch to my license plate so I could drive. I found a forum online that this has been an issue w/ several other Fusions”
NHTSA complaint #11506112, filed 2023-02“In early spring of 2021 the trunk lid on the 2019 Ford Fusion hybrid opened by itself while driving through the parking lot. I was able to close it. Later that day it did it again. Then I came out to the vehicle to find the trunk open. I had not used the key fob, keypad on the door, or trunk release button that day. On the 16th of April I had a local shop inspect it, but all they could do was disconnect the release latch. I then took it to the dealership for further inspection and diagnosis. They did a number of procedures from reprogramming the BCM, to replacing it. …”

The failure had occurred approximately 6 times within a month. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,293.”
