“Our Ford lcf450 was lacking power and was idling rough. We took it in to our local dealer and they stated that the fuel tank was delaminating which clogged the fuel lines. They said we needed to replace the fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel filters. The dealership said that this was caused by putting in diesel fuel that had trace amounts of biofuel.”

NHTSA complaint #10365926, filed 2010-11, 70,000 miles

“The driver is onthe road, truck engine bogs, then dies.he managed to get it off the road, let sit for a few minutes, then the truck restarted and ra for a little while longer, then the same scenario, several more times before he managed to get it to the shop. I pulled both fuel filters and found the on-frame filter plugged with a scaly, whitish-silver crystalline film. I replaced both filters, now, a few thousand miles on the new filters, it is doing it again and I am replacing the filters again.”

NHTSA complaint #10611228, filed 2014-07, 76,854 miles

“Our 2006 Ford lcf runs very rough, and stalls while moving. Ford dealership said the fuel tank is delaminating inside, causing the fuel injectors to fail. Apparently this has been going on for the last couple of years. We've replaced several fuel injectors over that time. The cost to fix this (from Ford) is 5,000.00. New tank, fuel lines, all new injectors. In researching this issue, I found that this is becoming common for the Ford 2006 Ford lcf. I have very good maintanance records and only use fuel from one source. …”

NHTSA complaint #10505321, filed 2013-04, 113,000 miles

“I have 2 lcf's. Both the fuel tanks are failing because of diesel additives. I have replaced one already which cost me $1700, now I have to replace the other.”

NHTSA complaint #10576412, filed 2014-04, 160,000 miles

“Ford lcf has had continual problems when driven at higher speeds. Vehicle stalls out and can only be restarted after cool down. We have had the vehicle in for repeated service but the problem continues. We have concluded that the only solution is not to drive this truck at higher speeds and keep it in town. The dealer has replaced injectors and other fuel delivery parts and on one service call stated that the truck needed an oil change. Previous oil change was at 3000 miles.”
