“On october 23 2019, I retained mavis discount tire to inspect my new york state registered 2003 Ford Taurus. Mavis discount tire passed the vehicle, determining the vehicles condition complied with ny state safety standard of roadworthiness. 12/12/2019, after repairing the transmission at gorilla auto works, I was informed of a serious structural situation, control arm assembly severely deteriorated . …”

NHTSA complaint #11302236, filed 2020-01, 74,029 miles

“Was told by Ford dealer both front and rear coil springs on drivers side were broke on my 2003 Ford Taurus. Found out this is a ongoing problem that Ford has with no recall. Bought this car new and now I have only 71,000 miles .paid 1354.12 to have car repaired and im very unhappy with Ford over this. Ford should make good for this repair.”

NHTSA complaint #10398111, filed 2011-04, 71,063 miles

“I'm adding my complaint to an open investigation #ea08018. My 2003 Taurus suffered a broken coil spring today which punctured my passenger side tire and apparently damaged upper and lower mounts in the process. Estimated cost of repair (including addressing the yet to be broken opposite side), is 1800 dollars. There was no accident as I was traveling a slow rate of speed.”

NHTSA complaint #10375407, filed 2011-01, 86,000 miles

“On my 2003 Ford Taurus, the drivers side front coil spring assembly broke. This sliced my tire sidewall and caused my car front end to drop to the ground. Luckily this happened when parked in my garage. The bad thing is that it is minnesota and winter. I thank god I was not driving down the road. This would have been very, very bad.”

NHTSA complaint #10371765, filed 2010-12, 108,945 miles

“I sat in the driver's seat of my 2003 Ford Taurus and the driver's side front spring sheared and slashed my tire. I had to tow the car and replace both front struts, springs and the ruined tire. I saw this was common in 2001-2003 tauruses in northern states but a recall has only been issued on the 2001 models. I could have been killed if this happened while I was driving.”
