Example complaints

Other or unknown: “Unknown air conditioner works well for about 1 hour, then suddenly there's a funny noise and the heat comes out instead of cold air. We have informed Genesis dealer about the problem, but they said it would not be covered under warranty. We have seen multiple reports of this issue but Genesis has not issued a recall for this potentially dangerous and hazardous problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11718649, filed 2026-02

Brakes: “It is dead everyday and I have to jump it I noticed when I attach a power source it makes very odd noises. I feel the current recall you have on the g80 2020 may be the issue. It runs extremely hot wit no warning lights showing. I have had a lot of brake dust and the car is hot fast. Also issues with usb and when connected to phone it sound like crackling and volume sounds odd unless I unplug and replug. Replaced battery twice in a year”

NHTSA complaint #11587698, filed 2024-05

Electrical system: “The contact owns a 2020 Genesis G80. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that rodents had chewed through the soy-based wire coating. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who provided the same diagnostic and repaired the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to dealer where it was diagnosed that rodents had also chewed through the starter wiring. The vehicle was repaired. …”

NHTSA complaint #11459848, filed 2022-04, 12,000 miles

Tires: “The vehicle has 11,000 miles on it. I just drove from Boston, MA to Scranton, PA on Thursday 6/24/21. There were no issues and I did not hit any pot holes. On Friday morning we started driving and 3-4 miles away going about 40 mph, we noticed a problem on the right front. I pulled over and we noticed the tire was flat. I called triple A and took the car to a tire repair shop. The sidewall was worn all around the perimeter of the tire and it had a hole in the sidewall. I also noticed a bubble on the left front tire, thus both tires were replaced. …”
