“On 1/31/2011 my 2005 Gmc Envoy showed my gas was down to a quarter of a tank. I stopped to fill up before a snow storm came in and put 16 gallons of unleaded fuel into my tank. Immediately after my gas gauge went to empty and my gas light came on. It went up to a quarter of a tank and then went back down again. It is still showing empty, with the gas light on, and I know it has a full tank of gas.”

“I purchased a 2005 Gmc Envoy sle in march of 2006. Since I purchased the vehicle it has stalled several times. Once while stopped waiting for traffic to resume and numerous times while driving at a very slow rate of speed. I have taken it to the dealer twice and both times they have said that they can not find what the problem is.”

NHTSA complaint #10168144, filed 2006-09, 25,500 miles

“I have had a problem in the past with the fuel gauge reading empty continuously as I have read from many other complaints. Recently I experienced a problem with the oil pressure gauge. At first the check engine light appeared intermittently and then the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero, at which time the message in on the lcd reading said stop engine and oil pressure low . I immediately went to my gas station and checked the oil, which was only down a 1/4 tank. …”

“2005 Gmc Envoy would not pass state inspection after 3rd year; fuel meter no longer works. Dealer wanted $400 to repair. Dealer wanted $1600 to replace air injection unit and fuel sensor and thermometer so car could pass inspection. I had all the items repaired and engine light still comes on. It has approx 60k miles. The dealer is refusing to repair air injection unit stating it is not under warranty. When I purchased car it came with 100k warranty for drive trane. …”

NHTSA complaint #10326739, filed 2010-04, 60,000 miles

“On july 28, 2014 I was going down a hill and the engine shut off completely. Fortunately I was only going approximately 5 MPH and was able to coast across the main street and was able to coast into a parking spot. I tried restarting my Envoy with no luck so I had the truck towed to the local Gmc dealership and was told that the ignition switch had gone bad. I hate to think what would have happened if I was going faster or going down a steep mountain because where I live I am surrounded by mountains. I am not sure if anyone else experienced this problem with a similar vehicle. …”
