Example complaints

Brakes: “Abs pump keeps running had to remove fuse to keep battery from running down I have a 1999 Gmc picjup truck. Repair of this pump is $1000.00 most people are pulling the fuse and running without ABS brakes. But the brake light is on all the time so you don't know when your brakes give out. From the resourch I have done this seems to be a very common problem. I believe there should be a recall to fix the faulty pumps. Thank you”

NHTSA complaint #10133875, filed 2005-08, 65,000 miles

Fuel system: “Consumer stated while driving and without warning the fuel tank cracked and caused fuel to leak. Dealer notified. There was a leakage, it was discovered that the tank collapsed. At the time the driver heard a loud noise. The consumer had the tank repaired because Gmc has not been able to furnish a new vehicle. Scc”

NHTSA complaint #10012181, filed 2003-03, 25,196 miles

Body and structure: “1999 Gmc pickup had a crack in the rear frame. The frame was broken just behind the rear axle. The consumer contacted the manufacturer who told him to take the vehicle back to the dealer for a factory rep to inspect it. The rep inspected that vehicle and indicated that the manufacturer wouldn't provide any assistance because the frame is not available anymore.”

NHTSA complaint #10161553, filed 2006-06

Tires: “Tread face seperation. I have since traded the other three tires and purchased new tires. I was one of the people who had blow outs of the firestone tires in the 70's. This event concerned me enough to get the tires off the vehicle. I incurred a substantial cost to trade out seemingly new tires. I would like to know how a situation like mine can be included in a cliam on the recall to firestone?( DOT number: tire size: lt265-17 )”
