“Truck has 3 problems that can put my family's life in danger. 1- sometimes out of nowhere at low speeds when you turn the steering wheel to make a left or right turn the 'stabilitrac' light flashes in the screen and locks and won't let you turn the steering wheel.at this point you have no control of the steering wheel, it locks and bounces back at you and if you keep trying to turn it, the engine cuts off all power and it stalls, just dies. I almost got read ended a couple of times already due to this problem. …”
NHTSA complaint #11118538, filed 2018-08, 20 miles“The vehicle is stalling when braking and getting ready to turn. My truck is showing stabilitrak service intermittently and I've almost been in a crash 3 times because of this. The vehicle only restarts after placing in park. This is not safe when in traffic. There seems to be no recalls and no known cause. Someone is going to die if GM doesn't fix this. I've been on forums and it's a common problem. It should be fixed by GM if it is so common. This happens when approaching cross traffic at an intersection and I lose all control of steering braking and power to the truck.”
NHTSA complaint #11348570, filed 2020-08, 60,000 miles“Has had an issue with accessories flashing off and back on. Reported it to a Gmc dealer and they were unable to duplicate but said that the battery was bad and most likely what was causing it. It did fine for a while then began doing it again. This time however it caused a loss in power steering and I ended up in the ditch. Later it did it in a parking lot and was able to video tape it. Took it to the dealer and showed them the video. They were unable to duplicate for 4 days while I was paying for a rental because mine wasn't safe to drive. …”
NHTSA complaint #10992047, filed 2017-05, 36,579 miles“While at low speed and at stops while turning the wheel the entire dash and engine cut off and come back on. The steering also locks up to a point of not turning either way. All incidents happened on a very smooth flat road. This put my life in danger on one occasion while turning on a highway where my entire truck shut off mid turn.I have video of this occurring on my phone if you would like to reach out to me for that. I believe this to be a stabiltrac issue, one of Gmc's traction control branding things. I have seen this issue all over google while searching it and it needs to be recalled! …”
NHTSA complaint #11090832, filed 2018-04, 32,000 miles“Loss of power steering assist, steering wheel jerks or kicks back when turning, messages with warning chime appear on instrument panel which also goes blank or inoperative, engine stalls and dies. This happens while vehicle is in motion on city street or hwy i10 (in bumper to bumper traffic) and when turning or backing up into a parking spot. This has happened before but more recently lately (at least once a day since 9/16 -9/18/2017)”
