“Rear window defroster started smoking and created a burning plastic smell. After turning off the rear defroster the rear window exploded/shattered in place. I see there is a recall in canada, but not here. This is happening here and I have read of many others with same issue. Fire and broken glass is not safe and should be addressed”
NHTSA complaint #11394928, filed 2021-02, 105,000 miles“I turned on the rear defroster, and my daughter said mom, it's sizzling. I looked back and there was smoke on the rear window. Then there was a loud bang, and it shattered. The vehicle was not in motion at the time. I was just getting ready to back out of the parking area in my driveway.”
NHTSA complaint #11282275, filed 2019-11, 68,472 miles“There is a leak on the top right hand side of the A/C condenser resulting in hot air coming out of the vents when the A/C is enabled. After some research I found that this is a common issue and GM has to take responsibility for it. Gm already issued a TSB for the 2015 - 2017 tahoes, yukons, and escalades with the same engines and equipment as my 2015 Gmc sierra with 45000 mi. Tsb # 17336 air conditioning condenser (combi-cooler) refrigerant leak”
NHTSA complaint #11309873, filed 2020-02, 45,000 miles“2015 Gmc SIERRA 1500 air conditioning has stopped working. This appears to be a very common problem and Gmc has only issued spotty recalls for it. My truck has 46,000 miles and now my children get to ride in a hot vehicle because GM will not help with repair.”
NHTSA complaint #11217526, filed 2019-06, 46,000 miles“This post is about making the public aware of a potential problem. Although the manufacturer did not step up and do the right thing, I'm concerned others may have dealt with this problem or it may happen in the future. On august 29, 2018, my truck was parked on my driveway by 4pm after running errands for a couple of hours. At 6pm my husband went out to get something out of it and saw it had caught on fire. Nothing was left plugged in and there was nothing flammable in the truck. …”
