“Vehicle is shutting off at any given speed, ie. 35 MPH in town or 70 MPH on a highway with oncoming traffic. When vehicle shuts off, loss of all control of the vehicle takes place. No brakes, no steering, nothing until the vehicle randomly turns back on. This is not a consistent occurrence to know when it is going to happen or be prepared for it to happen. I watched my husband shoot across the road into the other lane and almost put the vehicle over a bank one night when it happened. …”

NHTSA complaint #11139628, filed 2018-10, 32,500 miles

“Truck has vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal between the speeds 30-75 MPH. When driving the truck at any of the listed speeds and have the speed steady at said speed, vibration can be felt in the steering wheel and gas pedal in the 2wd and 4wd-auto modes. Also when the engine shifts from v8 to v4 modes. Truck has been to three (3) dealers so far and did not see much improvement in the vibration.”

NHTSA complaint #10947060, filed 2017-01, 10,850 miles

“Rainy road, 60mph on the hw with my family. Truck decides to engage stabilitrak or something to that feel and locked up the brakes. Talk about a scary moment with an 18 wheeler coming in hot behind you. Obviously, in the moment, I had no clue what was happening other than something with the truck was malfunctioning. This scenario could have gone wrong in so many ways. I'm honestly in shock someone has not been killed because of this?”

NHTSA complaint #11559861, filed 2023-12

“the steering assist fails, Power and steering is reduced at driving speeds. Steering wheel locks and vehicle looses voltage and stalls while driving at low speeds and have been close to collision. Vehicle was inspected by Group One Gmc in el Paso Texas. They did not fix recall because it did not pertain to my vin . There is a recall for the steering assist on all gmc 2015 1500, but not for my gmc 2015 1500 for some reason. Whether it was manufactured in the us or the moon its still a gmc 2015 1500 with faulty steering assist system from the manufacturer with an open recall. …”

NHTSA complaint #11678114, filed 2025-08

“When I turn the steering wheel, the ac turns off, lights turn off, the computer screen turns off, steering wheel gets hard and does a jerking movement. The truck turns off too and then suddenly turns on. This can cause a death. If this happens in a highway or a street where speed is high this can easily cause a death.. fortunately this has happened going at 30 mph and no one close at the time and also at a drive through fast food restaurant. It has not been confirmed by the dealer but I will soon have to take it. The only light that comes up is the StabiliTrak.. …”
