“First date was 04/23/2024 my truck went into limp mode with an alert reading engine and transmission control module problem. Brought it in and they reset the sensors. Shortly after the alert warning goes off again and I turn the engine off and start it back up. It cleared the alert, I brought it back in on 06/15/2024. They reset sensor and fixed a recall on tailgate. I picked up truck, drove it for 2 months and TCM warning came up and threw truck into limp mode while pulling a 2 horse trailer. It turned a 3 hr drive into a 6 hr drive. …”

NHTSA complaint #11610528, filed 2024-08

“While driving my truck on the highway at 65 mph the truck bucked hard and immediately downshifted into 2nd gear. This caused me to rapidly decelerate to approximately 40 mph, I am lucky there was not another vehicle behind me when this happened since rapid unexpected deceleration without brake lights is very dangerous. I had to drive the truck in limp mode at 45mph and approximately 4500 rpms to the nearest exit. This event illuminated the trucks check engine light and displayed a brief service 4WD message followed by a permanent reduced acceleration message on the dash.”

“The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop, the contact simultaneously depressed the brake pedal and accelerator pedal, causing the vehicle to move forward and to stop simultaneously. The contact stated that the pedals were significantly close to each other. The contact’s foot was sliding off the pedals. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the contact requested for an adjustment of the pedals. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. …”

NHTSA complaint #11672512, filed 2025-07, 10 miles

“The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while stopped at an intersection, the vehicle moved forward while the brake pedal was fully depressed. The contact also stated on a level surface, the vehicle accelerated about 4 MPH without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was duplicated; however, the dealer stated that the vehicle operated as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100.”

NHTSA complaint #11579348, filed 2024-03, 100 miles

“The Column Shifter that is installed on all 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HDs and 3500HDs poses a potential safety risk to its passengers and other drivers on the road. When the column shifter of the vehicle is in the standard drive position the shifter covers part of the screen and the direct path to the radio volume control dial and infotainment home button. It has been found and replicated that attempting to interact with the infotainment screen UI and the home button/volume control dial the driver may easily accidentally bump the shifter into the neutral position. …”
