“The service stabilitrak light comes on along with the check engine light causing the truck to shut off or not move. This has happened while am on the freeway, city street and stopped at a stop light. I have took my truck in for the same problem more then four times and same issue keeps happening.”

NHTSA complaint #11022860, filed 2017-09, 45,000 miles

“Traveling at about 25 MPH in a residential neighborhood, the engine and stabilitrak lights came on and power abruptly cut out. Luckily no one was behind me and I was safely able to pull to the side of the road. I can only image what might have happened if this had occurred on a busy freeway or a crowded intersection.”

NHTSA complaint #10705918, filed 2015-04, 151,335 miles

“When exiting highway coming up to a stop sign or stop light or just braking, the engine shuts off with no warning or sputtering, while still rolling with no warning. This usually happens when pulling a trailer. No power brakes or power steering. The engine has shut off 5 times in the last month and a half and taken to the dealership where I am told every time can't duplicate so as of now nothing is wrong with the vehicle. I have had to steer clear of car in front of me several times as to not crash. Serious safety issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11021583, filed 2017-09, 103,000 miles

“While driving in the city, my truck was driving fine. Then the stabilitrak came on. When it came on the engine slow down, and almost came to a complete stop while driving on a major road where the speed limit is 55. I was able to pull over and turn the vehicle off. I was able to get it to start and call the Gmc dealer, told them what the problem was, and they asked could I bring the vehicle in to see what the problem was. After they service the vehicle, they said that the stabilitrak needed to be replaced. I hadn't even had the vehicle for a full year. …”
