“I was driving my vehicle. The traction control light came on, and the check engine light came on right after. The truck then began to idle strange like it was going to stall. I drove it home while talking to my husband he stated since I just filled up the tank maybe it was bad gas. I drove it home which was about 5 miles down the road. As soon as I pulled into the driveway , the service brake system came up on the dash and the my truck started making this horrible clicking. I later found out the motor is gone and threw a rod. …”

NHTSA complaint #10509695, filed 2013-04, 106,273 miles

“On july 26, 2013 I was in my 2007 Gmc Yukon Denali when I had an issue. I was in my car, the engine was running but it was in park. I was idling for about 5 minutes when I received a engine power reduced , followed by the check engine light. I immediately shut the car off and gave it about 20 minutes before I turned the car back on again. The check engine light was still on with the engine power reduced , followed by service stabilitrac , stabilitrac off , service traction control , traction control off , and power assist off . …”

NHTSA complaint #10532082, filed 2013-07, 72,105 miles

“As I was driving 'oil pressure is low, cut the engine off' warning came on and the oil light was on. That also triggered the traction control/stabilitrak light to come on. From then on whenever I drive the vehicle those lights come on as well as the check engine light. This is apparently a common problem with the Gmc 2007 engine. There are multiple forms from chevy, cadillac, and Gmc where consumers that have these engines are experiencing this problem. When we take it to dealerships we are told to change the engine. I was just quoted over $8000 to change this engine. …”

NHTSA complaint #10694993, filed 2015-03, 140,000 miles

“I was traveling on the freeway at about 70 MPH coming from a supervision training class along with a co-worker and the following sensor lights started appearing on my dashboard: traction control off, stabilitrak off. This has continued to happen on a regular basis. I have taken it to the GM service at least twice and private repair facilities numerous times and the situation continues. It is now 01-28-2014 and the situation continues and is getting worse. Alone with the above issues now the reduce engine power light comes on and the engine shuts down. …”

NHTSA complaint #10561747, filed 2014-01, 102,000 miles

“This has now happened several times since, at no particular speed. I will be driving and all of a sudden the stabilitrak lights and traction control lights come on, and the engine begins to run very hard and will not accelerate very quickly and cannot reach full capacity. This is somewhat scary as it has happened on the highway several times, as well as just driving around my residential area, always with my kids in the car. Usually once I turn the car off and leave it for a little bit, then restart it, the lights are off except the engine light will stay on. …”
