“Honda FIT sport :engine warning light stays on for weeks then turns off unexpectedly then back on again since about august 2014. I completed the 120,000 mile recommended service at the Honda dealership near where I was at the time but the engine light came back on then off again intermittently regardless of the service. Not sure if it is related to the engine surge I am worried about now (march 2015) accompanied by my paddle shifters not working while in d mode. …”
NHTSA complaint #10692872, filed 2015-03, 140,000 miles“Power steering suddenly froze up in the middle of a left turn. Steering warning light came on , but I was nearly hit by a car that assumed I would be able to turn faster. Steering seemed to reset after turning the car off then on again, but did notice some sluggishness with acceleration after restarting. This is a really dangerous problem and I notice other published reports of this, so I think this warrants an investigation and a recall!”
NHTSA complaint #10550761, filed 2013-11, 41,125 miles“I drove into my driveway to park in our car port. As I approached the car port the car suddenly accelerated. I applied the brakes but it did not even slow down. The car went over a 8 inch by 4 inch barrier at the front of the car port, continued to gain speed as it went through a small garden, then it knocked down our privacy fence. All during this time I was applying the brake. The car then went about 60 feet through our neighbors yard and continued through the next houses' privacy fence and went another 6 feet and finally stopped when it hit the house. The air bags never released.”
NHTSA complaint #10689868, filed 2015-02, 78,000 miles“My husband was backing up our Honda FIT in the driveway. He put the car in reverse and while he was backing up it made a terrible grinding sound. He put his foot on the brake and then put the car into drive. Before he even moved his foot over to the accelerator pedal, the car accelerated so fast that it left skid marks on the driveway. He put his foot back on the brake and the car didn't stop. He put the emergency brake on and the car didn't stop. The car crashed through our fence at which point he put the car into park and it came to a screeching halt.”
NHTSA complaint #10316764, filed 2010-03, 18,000 miles“Went to park car in parking lot applied brake, car accelerated went over curb down hill and hit telephone poll. Tried to apply brake but car kept accelerating would not stop,”
