“I was positioning my car outside my office for loading. I backed in, then put the car in 'd(rive)' to inch forward a bit. Before I could step on the gas, the car accelerated and with engine racing headed toward a high curb beyond which stood a large, mature tree. I slammed on the brakes but to no avail; the pedal went limply to the floor without affect. At the same time I shifted into n(eutral), again without affect. I grabbed for the hand brake but it was too late. The car jumped the high curb and ploughed into the tree. …”
NHTSA complaint #10888695, filed 2016-07, 85,500 miles“I drove into my driveway to park in our car port. As I approached the car port the car suddenly accelerated. I applied the brakes but it did not even slow down. The car went over a 8 inch by 4 inch barrier at the front of the car port, continued to gain speed as it went through a small garden, then it knocked down our privacy fence. All during this time I was applying the brake. The car then went about 60 feet through our neighbors yard and continued through the next houses' privacy fence and went another 6 feet and finally stopped when it hit the house. The air bags never released.”
NHTSA complaint #10689868, filed 2015-02, 78,000 miles“After cold start the ABS and brake warning lights were lit on dashboard. They went away after pressing the brake pedal twice. The lights were off during the driving and brakes worked normally. Subsequent starting was unremarkable. There were no leaks or poor quality fluid in the system. Can be a first sign of ABS unit failure (bad pump motor).”
NHTSA complaint #10555487, filed 2013-12, 44,150 miles“Went to park car in parking lot applied brake, car accelerated went over curb down hill and hit telephone poll. Tried to apply brake but car kept accelerating would not stop,”
NHTSA complaint #11324618, filed 2020-05, 85,000 miles“After coming to a stop, when start to accelerate, vehicle stalls. Then has hard time starting back up. Has caused several close calls with almost being t-boned as the car stalled after trying to complete a left hand turn from a complete stop.”
