“Can has been making a popping noise that can be felt in the steering wheel for 2 years. Honda has told me nothing was wrong after taking it in 4 times. Now my car keeps stalling at lights, sometimes it takes a while to get it to restart, and they can not figure out why. They keep saying the battery is fine and diagnostics finds nothing.”

NHTSA complaint #11683344, filed 2025-08

“I purchased a 2021 Honda Odyssey with 55,000 miles on it. At 57,000 miles with normal driving conditions, I heard a metal on metal noise on rear passenger side. Upon taking it to the mechanic, both rear springs were rusted & broken - essentially giving my van no rear suspension and making it very dangerous to drive. I had to find a new vehicle for my kids for a month and a half as there is no aftermarket part. Honda would not find the part for me and wanted me to work through the dealership, but I did not have the time as this is family vehicle that I need each day. …”

NHTSA complaint #11615521, filed 2024-09

“Both rear coil springs rusted completely through and failed at approximately 57,876 miles on this 2021 Honda Odyssey. This is a premature failure of a primary suspension safety component. A broken coil spring can cause sudden loss of vehicle support and handling instability, and a fractured spring can puncture a tire or damage surrounding brake and suspension components, creating a crash risk. No crash, fire, injury, or death occurred. …”

NHTSA complaint #11770986, filed 2026-10

“At 64,000 miles both rear shock absorbers failed (rusted), one completely the other on the verge. Driving the car was dangerous as the car became unstable at higher speeds when going over normal bumps and road holes. The repair including parts, labor, and necessary four wheel alignment was $1,051. The dealer did not acknowledge this being a common issue nor did they deny it. A google search indicates this is a common issue with Honda Odyssey Vans for the 2021-2024 manufacturing years. …”

NHTSA complaint #11760327, filed 2026-08

“Discovered rear driver side spring fractured during oil change with routine use of the vehicle below 50k miles. Read that these are seen frequently in 2018-2022 models. Thought it should be reported.”
