“When i was driving, going about 45 MPH, the emergency braking system beeped and breaks were engaged. Not to a complete stop but like a break tap . Nothing was in front of beside our behind me. It was terrifying and I'm unsure why this happened. Please be advised, this can cause an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #11749390, filed 2026-07

“For some reason, the car applies emergency breaking for no apparent reason. It has happened to me on multiple occasions usually when driving on the interstate, although it has happened on regular town roads, sometimes I feel like it. It might be sensing lines on the road as something it needs to break for although other times it appears to happen for no reason whatsoever. Emergency breaking when there’s no reason to break can cause accidents.”

NHTSA complaint #11773878, filed 2026-10

“I was driving on the freeway at the posted limit of 70mph. Visibility was clear, light traffic, with no vehicles in front for at least 20 car lengths. Suddenly and without warning the emergency braking system activated. On the dash the word “BRAKE” appeared and the vehicle quickly slowed to 50 mph before resuming normal operation. The driver behind me seemed startled and had to swerve into the next lane to avoid rear ending my vehicle. This is obviously a serious problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11773847, filed 2026-10

“I own a 2026 Honda Odyssey Elite. The vehicle has unexpectedly applied the brakes while driving even though there was no vehicle, pedestrian, or obstacle in front of me. The braking event occurred without warning and without any legitimate reason for the Forward Collision Avoidance system to activate. I first reported this issue to my Honda dealership on June 2, 2026 and again during subsequent repair visits. Although the dealership was initially unable to duplicate the concern, the issue remains unresolved. …”

NHTSA complaint #11750594, filed 2026-07

“On November 12, I was on the highway in the right lane, there was a car about 4 car lengths ahead of me in my lane and the car in the middle lane was quite a distance ahead. Just as I got in the middle lane, BOOM! the vehicle's CMBS malfunctioned and slammed on the brakes - no warning, visual or audible, just came to an abrupt stop. Thank goodness no one was behind me or I would have been dead. It was an instant whiplash effect as well And then as I was then merging back into the right lane to exit the highway, it did it again! …”
