“I was driving down the street to my sister house, when I got to her house I pulled up behind her car approximately 10 to 15 ft. On the curb and on the street, I stopped the car, put in in park while still running, when I touched the switch to turn the car off, the gas pedal went to the floor and the car ran into the car in front of me not ejecting the seat belt.”
NHTSA complaint #10615973, filed 2014-07, 100 miles“Driving, all road conditions the car drifts left or right and the steering wheel feels like it hits a stop point and correction has to be made constantly. Dealer gave me another 2013 elantra to test drive and it drove well without the problems of my car. And it had more milage than mine.”
NHTSA complaint #10783096, filed 2015-10, 26,949 miles“I was driving on a street when I went to make a stop. I was going about 15-20mph and had 3 car lengths room ahead of me. I tried to press on the brakes to make a stop, and the brakes did not work. The brakes ended up shaking and the brake pedal kicked back at me. It seemed as if ABS kicked in prematurely, or ESC kicked on prematurely. My wheels locked up causing my car to slide into the car ahead of me. I am not a mechanic so I am not sure which. I hit a vehicle in front of me. …”
NHTSA complaint #10825331, filed 2016-02, 45,000 miles“On several occasions the car acts as if we have turned off the ignition and completely stalls except that the motor is still going in spite of our attempt to accelerate. The car has no power. Needless to say this has resulted in near accidents. This has been an issue for over a year and has been at alexander Hyundai four times for the same driveability issue. We have requested the throttle positioning switch be replaced under warranty and were told it could not be replaced until the unit fails. The unit failing could result in an accident and/or injury to ourselves or others. …”
