2021: “I was entering my neighborhood and slowed down as we neared our house with my foot on the brakes so that I can open my garage door, as I released the brakes, the car started accelerating by itself really fast and I had to slam on my brakes to stop the car from speeding up on its own.”
NHTSA complaint #11408597, filed 2021-04, 1,700 miles2019: “There is a recall on the EV battery system both on the Hyundai site and the ntsb site for this. Hyundai claims there is no such recall. My battery system does not function according to specifications. Hyundai says not to park the vehicle inside due to the possibility of catastrophic fire. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer will remedy the situation. They both deny there is any problem. I purchased the vehicle used from a dealer december 2020.”
NHTSA complaint #11385986, filed 2021-01, 17,286 miles2020: “Driving during rush hour on interstate in an urban area. Cars in front slowed rapidly, applied brakes to slow down, did so successfully. Dynamic brake support then apparently kicked in, and forced the car to a stop, despite brake being fully released. Car from behind barely able to avoid crashing into me, the driver had to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid me and ended up stopping beside my car. Once car came to a stop, was able to get going again. Issue has not reproduced since.”
