“I live and work in the city and county, tucson, arizona. In the county there are generally no street lights at road intersections. My new car (2015 Hyundai Santa Fe) does not have any running lights on the side that provide side illumination at night. I have had multiple incidents when making right and left hand turns onto streets/roads without street lights where my car's lights do not illuminate the road I am turning onto until I completely make the turn. …”
NHTSA complaint #10671614, filed 2015-01, 400 miles“Headlights are ineffective . Lights now only light approx 15 feet in front of car does not light side of road. I have had the dealer realign head lights at least four times no effect. I have replace toe bulbs with just about every bulb available LED and halogens 55watts to 100watts no effective change. For the first several years they were great street signs were clearly shown now lane markers speed signs are only visible as you pass them. Light does appear to pass thru the lenses now. I have talk to other drivers with similar cars they are also having the same problems. …”
NHTSA complaint #11308762, filed 2020-02, 50,000 miles“While driving at 7:30pm on a back road on a saturday, both of my headlights went out at the same time. I pulled onto a dirt driveway and turned my car off and noticed they came back on. I had to have it towed back home and took it to the dealership on monday. They replaced a fuse box, and I picked my car up. About a week and a half later, it happened again while I was driving at night. In addition this time, my seat warmers would come on for about 30 seconds, and then shut off. I took it back up to the same dealership where I bought it. They had it for 2 weeks. …”
NHTSA complaint #11180859, filed 2019-02, 86,000 miles“The forward facing lights on my 2014 Santa Fe are so dim, I have to drive with the bright lights on just to be able to see at night. I’ve replaced the bulbs twice and they are still dim. Fog lights work, brights works, it’s just the regular night vision lights. I have resort to go slower than normal speed when driving at night because I can’t see. Thank God for street lights and road lamps. Hyundai try and resolve this issue. Thanks”
NHTSA complaint #11451299, filed 2022-02“The low-beam headlights are terrible, almost useless. I replaced both low-beam bulbs with high-quality bulbs and it did not help, at least not noticeably. The high beams work fine. The low beams are so bad that it is actually hard to see the road right in front of the car at night and the glare from oncoming headlights renders the low beams practically useless. This results with us doing most of our nighttime driving with the high beams on, even in traffic. We can't see the road without doing that.”
