“The visor on both my 2006 and 2007 is broke and does not stay up. Had to glue it. Also we had an third 2007 with the same issue. This is certainly a safety hazard. The other day I almost got into an accident because I was blocking the sun with one hand and had the other on the steering wheel and had to swerve to avoid an accident and using only one hand almost had me in the other people wreck.”

NHTSA complaint #10918904, filed 2016-10, 63,000 miles

“I've replace the sun visor on the driver's side about 2 years ago because of a drooping sun visor that would affect the drivers visibility. Since then both the driver and the passenger side visors droop whenever we try to use them. The visors are essentially useless and a detriment to our visibility and safe driving.”

NHTSA complaint #10595311, filed 2014-05, 38,900 miles

“Piece of plastic on sunvisor support cracked, and now it won't stay up, impairing vision. I almost ran through a red light the other day because it blocks the view of traffic lights. I have read all the other complaints on this website and others, but you are doing nothing about it. Is there any other agency that will look into this and do something about it?”

NHTSA complaint #10408906, filed 2011-06, 38,000 miles

“2006 Hyundai Sonata the driver and passenger sun visor falls straight down blocking your view of the road. Going 65 MPH you tend to panick when this happens. If this is not a safety issue I don't know what is. I know of two other owners with the same problem. I removed my visor which causes another safety problem (the sun).”

NHTSA complaint #10382488, filed 2011-02, 77,000 miles

“Sun visor on 2006 Hyundai / Sonata does not stay up. It is keep on falling. I had it replaced while it was under warranty and it's broke again and it's not under warranty any longer. I see many other similar issue with same model. This would be safety issue when the visor falls while driving. Hyundai should do a recall on this right away.”
