“The third brake light on the rear window deck fails to work intermittently creating a situation where vehicles following may not realize that our vehicle is braking. This creates a concern for my safety as well as my childrens safety. This is a very frequent problem with Infiniti vehicles of this make but Infiniti will not acknowledge the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10411305, filed 2011-07, 72,535 miles“Center mount/third brake light is completely out despite the attempts made to fix the LED's. Also had somehow caused my regular brake lights to go completely out. That seems to be repaired (faulty relay switch?), but since this was a safety issue I had asked Infiniti to goodwill the repair cost ($221), but it was denied.”
NHTSA complaint #10467788, filed 2012-07, 181,458 miles“3rd brake light was out causing failed state inspection. Once I researched the problem, it was learned that many similar vehicles had the same issue. I was not aware of the issue since the light is behind the rear glass of the vehicle, so I do not know how long I was driving around without a rear brake light causing a safety hazard.”
NHTSA complaint #10392528, filed 2011-03, 81,000 miles“2003 G35 sedan, 3rd brake light does not work, it's been off when it was under warranty. It was not fixed. I see many other G35's on the road without their 3rd brake light, I think it's very much a safety problem. There's also no way to know if your 3rd brake light is out or not, unless you have someone following you or looking at you.”
NHTSA complaint #10361681, filed 2010-10, 34,884 miles“Third brake light inside of car stops working prematurely. No wing on my car. Just interior third brake light. It is LED so it should last for decades. It makes it hard for other people to see when I press the brakes on my car. I bought an original factory replacement part for about $200. Old part is available.”
