“I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. In february 2011 the frame broke while I was driving it and I lost control and ended up fishtailing in the road. Luckily no one was around for me to hit. I told it to the Isuzu dealer and they fixed the frame because of the rust recall. Today I tried to fill up with gas and ended up with gas covered feet because the tank and brackets have rusted off.”

NHTSA complaint #10409181, filed 2011-06, 150,000 miles

“My 1999 Isuzu also had the same problem, we had just pulled out of the parking lot and heard a loud bang, and all of sudden I was not able to control the vehicle. I was lucky I was in a parking lot and not on the road. It turns out that the lower control bar had separated from the frame due to rust. This is only an 11 year old car, this should not had happened.”

NHTSA complaint #10342493, filed 2010-07, 129,684 miles

“I have already received a recall notice from Isuzu for the recall on the suspension bracket being broken from the frame, and was told we would be having our cars purchased back at fair market value. Now that they have my vehicle they say they will offer me the cost of the repair as the vehicle will not be safe after the installation of the bracket they propose fixes the issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #10375516, filed 2011-01, 200,000 miles

“I was driving my1999 Isuzu Rodeo when I had loss of control. The vehicle pulled badly to the left and right. I later found out the rear control arm had rusted off the frame. I also found out this is a very common problem for these vehicles along with the frame rusting out. I really feel there should be something done about this and a recall. This a very serious safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10318260, filed 2010-03, 170,000 miles

“I have a 99 Isuzu Rodeo. The body has a tiny bit of rust, the engine and transmission are good, the truck blue books for about 4000. The rear frame has rusted to the point that my mechanic says I need to splice in a new rear frame. Pretty much the car can't be fixed, sold, or driven and it's 9 years old. Isuzu won't do anything about it.”
