“I was driving on a highway and the car was swaying at 25 MPH, all of a sudden, something broke underneath, lost control of the car and threw me across three lanes and back. Was able to stop the car before crashing. Vehicle had to be towed. Mechanic told me frame completely rotted, impossible to weld. Stabilizer arm broke from rest of frame. Updated ivoq 10/18/10”

NHTSA complaint #10344474, filed 2010-07, 98,100 miles

“As I was driving the vehicle down the road the spare tire and trailer hitch fell off from underneath the vehicle almost causing a huge accident. Upon inspecting the under body of the vehicle I observed the rear frame totally rusted off and missing. The rest of the frame is badly rusted also. I just purchased the vehicle and did not know of the rotted frame issue on these cars. Please help as I don't have money to buy another car.”

NHTSA complaint #10641579, filed 2014-10, 137,450 miles

“Driving on highway hit a pothole and heard a loud thump from rear passenger side of vehicle. I didn't think much of it till the next day when I drove to work. It seemed every bump I got the same noise. Got to work, looked under car, all seemed fine. Just happened to look in rear cargo are and saw lump in carpet. The spring was poking up thru the rear floor !!!! How is this not a recall? After seeing the posts online I realize this is common. I never knew, been driving vehicle for 10 years with no issues.”

NHTSA complaint #10811206, filed 2015-12, 168,000 miles

“Was driving the vehicle at 30 MPH when a pop in the back was heard and all steering control was lost. When I looked under the vehicle, the bracket that holds the rear axle (left side) had broken off. Frame is grossly rusted. When Isuzu was called regarding the current recall, was told that the nearest service center was over 3 hours away. I am currently in the process of getting the vehicle to the service center, but due to distance this is an issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10438838, filed 2011-12, 126,000 miles

“I have a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo jeep. A while back I had a piece of the frame repaired/welded, as it broke and the vehicle was unstable. I spent over $500 in repair costs to bring the vehicle to driving status again. To this day I still wonder if it is good enough to drive, as there is rust all on the under frame of the car. I have put so much time, and money into this vehicle, and I cant afford to just get rid of the car and get a new one. …”
