“After having problems with dashboard lights going all on and off while driving two years ago, now my transmission has failed and the computer has gone out of the car. I have had ongoing issues with the air conditioning, and have replaced the module in the air conditioning to just have the issue re-appear a year later. The cruise control has gone out. And with heavy rains, I have leaking with my sunroof.”
NHTSA complaint #10419899, filed 2011-08, 96,000 miles“2006 Jeep Commander has a design flaw in their windshield. I have 5 chips on 5 different occasions and on 03/07/08 a new chip has turned inti 8 inch crack in front of drivers view. I understand their has been several complaints to chrysler about this flaw but dealer says chrysler will not replace or fix windshield. Dealer admitted design flaw has caused this continued problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10220526, filed 2008-03, 5,000 miles“I own a 2006 Jeep Commander that has a windshield defect. I have replaced this windshield once already and have 2 new stone chips in the windshield. I have talked to several other people that have the same vehicle model and they are seeing the same problem. This seems like a design malfunction.”
NHTSA complaint #10230576, filed 2008-06, 23,899 miles“We purchased a 2006 Jeep Commander in july of 2006. Since we have owned it, we have had 2 rock chips, that we have had patched. Since then, we have 4 different cracks that have all started below the windshield wipers, and all 4 cracks started within 24 hours of each other. First, it seems that Jeep commanders are much more susceptible to rock chips than any other car that we have ever owned. …”
NHTSA complaint #10188079, filed 2007-04, 8,000 miles“I have had our 2006 Jeep Commander for just over six months. While traveling on a paved surface, a rock, about the size of a quarter, was thrown up into my windshield causing a bullseye exactly in my line of sight. I believe that either the design and position of the windshild or the materials used must be the problem as I have heard of others having the same promlem. I do believe that this could be a safety problem.”
